Carpeting a boat?

id imagine you pull the old carpet out, and transfer the shape to a new uncut piece. or install carpet already cut for your boat. use glue.
its not wrapping a speaker box.
a lot of boats have carpeting half way up the sides as well so there will be some simularities to wrapping a box in that aspect i would assume.

How about for the boards on the trailer? Whats the best carpet to use on it, And what kinda glue? Should i staple the seam on the bottom?

What kinda coating [paint] should i put on a boat trailer? Nothing for show, Blacks fine. I just want it to protect from rust ect. Rubberized coating? Por-15? I dont care, As long as its priced half decent, And in an Aerosol can.

for the bunk boards.. In/Out carpet (try to find a carpet that is pretty pliable for best results) The carpet needs to be at about double the width of the board, and 4" long on each end. And YES, you must staple it on the bottom of the board to keep it in place. When I built boat trailers for a living, we used about a staple per inch per side on the bunks. Start at one end, get it secured, and go to the other end, pull it as tight as you can and shoot some staples in it. Then go to the middle shoot some staples in both sides.. Then go from end to end pulling tight from the side as you go. Can be a PITA but if you have a staple gun (pneumatic) it goes fast. Had it down to about a minute per bunk (up to 20' long)
