Good morning,
I am not quite sure what the issue is whether it's the amplifier or the car speaker or the connection. To start off, I have a 4-channel Kicker ZX.350.4 amp therefore it has Amp 1 and Amp 2 for the 2 sets of speakers (my fronts and rears). My front speakers are connected to Amp 1 and rear speakers connected to Amp 2. One day my front speakers began playing at a lower volume. When I played around with the gains of the front speakers at Amp 1 there was no change in volume (usually the volume of speakers increase when you to turn up the gain). I also played around with the gains of my rear speakers which are connected to Amp 2 and they work fine.
Therefore I tried switching the connection of my front speakers from Amp 1 to Amp 2 by switching both the RCAs and speaker wires. Now that my front speakers are connected to Amp 2 the gains still don't work (but they did work back when it was the rear speakers were connected to Amp 2). The rear speakers that are now connected to Amp 1 after the switch has the gains working (it didn't work when it was the front speakers that were connected). Therefore, I concluded that it was my front speakers that were the issue and not the amplifier.
After that conclusion, I went to Best Buy to use my 2-year warranty on my front speakers and got a Brand New speakers (same model as I previously had). I connected the new front speakers just as the previous front speaker was connected and the same issue persist, that the amp gains do not work for that particular set of speakers in either Amp 1 or Amp 2. I am now lost as to what is wrong.
My connection before the switch:
Front Speakers
Car Stereo's Front RCAs to Amp 1 RCAs
Front speakers' cables to Amp 1 speakers connection
Rear Speakers
Car Stereo's Rear RCAs to Amp 2 RCAs
Rear speakers' cables to Amp 2 speakers connection
Subwoofer - has nothing to do w/issue
Car Stereo's Sub RCAs to another amplifier (a mono block)
Subwoofer's speaker cable to mono block amplifier
Here's my sound system:
