capacitor?

I'll get to the point. I'm putting a Hifonics Hercules to 2 12" Type Rs. I've heard the Herc only needs 12.6 volts to do 2200 or so. My stock alt is a 130 amp. I don't know if it makes a difference but my stock battery is supposedly upgraded from the factory as part of the towing package. Only spec it says on the battery is 710 cold cranking amps. I'm gonna do the big 3 soon. My buddy told me I'm probably gonna need a capacitor. I know what a capacitor looks like and all but I don't know exactly what it does. Will I need one? I just don't want voltage drops or heavy light dimming.

don't need a capacitor. do a big 3 upgrade (stickied in this forum) a cap basically stores up current to realse for at a split second, and only for a second. it main purpose is to fill the gap when the alt is slow to feed the current aon big bass notes. basically it should be added to a an already adequate electrical, but through the line of marketing, it has turned into some sort of magic device that'll make your electrical system better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
