Capacitor Question

Today I installed a capacitor on my car. My current setup is: MTX 81001 & MTX 9500 SVC 4 ohm. Which is only 500watts rms. I'm getting lots of dimming when i'm like at a stop light. After I installed my capacitor today, i'm still getting lots of voltage drops and dimming. I checked on the capacitor and i'm dropping to the low 13's volts, when i'm only running 500watts rms. I was thinking of doing the big3, is it expensive? lots of work to do? My dad owns a mechanic shop so i'll just have him or one of his guys do it. its not expensive at all.

1/0 gauge wire should be no more than $25

it helps a lil but you might need a ho alt

My amp only pushes 500watts @ 4 ohms.. How doesn't that make sense?

since you have a new battery try the big 3 but your alt may not be charging to its full potential . what year is the car?

Another question, when I installed my capacitor today, I only had power cable, isn't the power cable and the ground the same wire?

its a 2.2 farad.

humm its new .. do the big three. and have your battery and alt tested at any auto zone . i think its free.

no no no

you need a separate cable that goes to a ground point like to the body of the car

it needs to be grounded correctly on clean metal

Well my dad owns a mechanic shop, I tested the battery and its fine. I asked my dad about the big 3, he said its a big hassle. Thats why I purchased the capacitor thinking it would help me. Do I have to let it charge up or something? I plugged it up and started bumping.

Thats the only amp I have, (btw its a ****ing beast).

On my amp I have two slots -CAP and +CAP I connected it properly.

my suggestion is do the big 3 and see if that helps. its not a hassle its just 3 1/0 gauge wire
