capacitor quandary.

I'm having troubles w/ my voltage in my car. The PPI amp draws too much power. it's only @ like 12-13 volts even when my car is running, and when i turn off the motor the voltage drops to like 9 or below. Should i just stop running my subs for a while, and wait for the battery to recharge, or should i get a 1 farad cap. for my PPI amp?????????

I have an almost new battery, it was new about a month before i got my 1kW amp, so my batt. isn't too old.

Do not purchase a cap.. anything under 10 farrads is utterly useless...

alternators produce voltage.. every other device is a storage device, and will become a load when you drop knob...

How can anything under 10 Farads be useless? It only makes sense to me that any additional stored power would help. If someones running upwards of a 2000 watt system what would you suggest they do? Change alternators or ad a second battery?

a 10 farad cap would be useless. a low esr/esl cap is what is needed. you advising not to buy a cap means you don't understand what they do OR how a amp works

yes BUT what needs to be looked at is the voltage the storage device can be charged too, the ESR/ESL of the storage device and the speed of recharge

sure does ---- just need to look at how that power is made. THEN you can decide how to supply it
