Hello,
I have :
Phoenix Gold Octane R5.0:4 4x50watts rms running to the 4 factory components
PPI 4240 4x30watt running 2 of the 4 channels bridged to 120 watts rms driving a single12 inch sub. (2 channels unused)
My question is : Would it be prudent to use a secondary battery or capacitor to insure the longevity of the alternator? I've been reading that capacitors can help give a surge of power for those low bass notes but what about relieving the stress on the alternator?
My playing style is usually playing at normal average level with a couple loud sessions once in a while.
The car is a Jaguar XJ8. It has a fairly large battery but (as with all things jaguar) replacing the alternator will undoubtedly be an expensive affair.
Many thanks
