capacitor hook up question

I am installing a capacitor today and was wondering i know it says to charge them before use, what if i hook it up and dont pump music and let it charge? or does it have to be charged a certain way?

It needs to be charged a certain way.It only takes a couple seconds but you will need a small test light or the resistor that came with the cap.Put the light inline with the power wire.Connect the power wire to the wire comin off the test light then touch the tip of the test light to the positive terminal on the cap.

You shouldn't your not touching anything.Besides its only 12v its like putting a 9v battery on your tounge.

I get your point though....hooking the stuff up won't hurt. There is sometimes a little spark, but NOTHING like a short!!!!
