Can't Decide W505 vs 8120 vs Z3

currently i have the D3 and it has some pioneer bug's ....

so i'm trying to see which deck everyone likes better .. tell me why?

I use the iPod, XM, reverse camera etc...

pioneer is just a single receiver to connect and shows on the HU's display of song playing... does it show on alpines and kenwoods?

look forward to hearing what you guys think...

i agree with the 505..... it can play movies off of your ipod which would be more storage then the pioneers 10gb hdd.... and i hate that pioneer makes you pay so much money and they cant even give you a ****ing remote.... the pioneer and the kenwood both have navigation but they are also more $......

i'd go with the 505 all day

what about using the bluetooth while driving? or the DVD or even the map while in motion?

pioneer you have to move a wire and ground two wires out

what about Kenwood or Alpine? any fixes or changes i have to know?

I'm answering my own questions here.. but this is the feed back i was looking for..

I have the W505 installed with the Blackbird II. Before I have used a Megallen 4250 and the Harmon Kardon GPS 810. Let me say this, the blackbird II does not compare to these 2 GPS. But I have to use the BlackBird because I don't extra stuff hanging on my windshield.
First thing, docking the blackbird to the W505 is very simple. Open the face plate and insert. But it is recommended to install the optional antenna to the back of W505. It is the only way to get a excellent reception. Without the antenna, the reception is horrible.

Docking the Blackbird with the W505 does give you the large screen size, but does not increase resolution. Therefore the map looked pixelated.

Calculation of route is fast and accurate. You get choices of fastest time, and less use of freeway. Blackbird does not annouce the street name or freeway. Re-routing is also fast.

Traffic is optional, free for 90 days. It does show you where the traffic is, but somehow it is not as accurate.

Docking the Blackbird also give you the capability of bluetooth handsfree. It connects to your cellphone thru bluetooth, and sync with your phone's phonebook automatically. You can connect the optional mic to the back of the W505 for complete handsfree operation, talk thru mic and hear thru car speaker. And when receiving call or calling someone, it gives you the option to send the call back to the phone for private conversation.

POI searching is not as intuitive, you have to type the exact wording of the place you are searching or it will not come up.

The blackbird does have some good tool. There is a information tool that tells you your speed, how long have you been driving and idling, fastest speed and average speed.

Overall, the blackbird is a good compilment to the W505 if you are like me that don't like extra thing hanging on the windshield. Good GPS overall, but it just does not have the cool features of the Garmin or Magellan.

I have a 8120 and a Z1 with an updated hard drive...The 8120 has the best SQ fetures but my Z1 has a lot of good user Features...I love the ability to be able to burnCD's to the Hard drive...I haven't fooled with the GPS much on the Kenwood....The Pioneers could get you lost at times....

of the two decks, which do you prefer? and the kenwood you're saying is much better with the nav?

for the alpine u need the pac tr7 to allow moving watching while driving, or to input a address while driving.
Thanks... i'm making notes to compare...

I haven't really tested the Kenwood navigation as of yet....for accurcy...I'm gonna pull it from my Focus and put it in my Civic Hybrid when it is delivered...I'll use the Civic for my SQ car since I'll be in it the majority of time....for road trips
How many dam cars do you have dude? LOL!

Have you checked out Pioneer's new F series??
Dont do it! They are having a ton of problems with them. See AVIC411.com. I was originally going to purchase a F90bt but, after reading all the bad posts about them I backed away and purchased the Kenwood.

yeah i've read on avic411 as well about the f series having so many problems...

how about the map updates?

anyone with the z models, how do you update?

kenwood, how do you update these ones?
