Can you overdose on ibuprofen?

Very very difficult to do.
It will upset your stomach and make you puke, and can aggravate underlying preexisting conditions, but it's very very difficult to do yourself harm with ibuprofen alone.
actually you can overdose on Ibuprofen without any pre-existing conditions. Large doses and kidney failure, along with bleeding can help you meet your maker.

i would just assume you would throw it all up before it could kill you... or something along those lines...
Of course you can, doctors allow you to take in between 3000-3500mg of ibuprofin daily. It has a very short half life(around 2 hours) so that dose could be doubled in one day and you still would be fine, but long term use at that level is a no no. Its not possible to determine an accurate LD because of health/age/weight/tolerance etc but i will personally say if your trying to kill yourself ibuprofen is not the way to go. It would be over 10 grams and you would experience some serious effects like gastrointestinal bleeding.

I second the question, why do you ask this? Do you think you have overdosed? Or are you wondering how much you can take?

i just don't think its possible. a friend of mine attempted ******* once by taking "like 8 and a few beers". all i could do was think of how retarded he was. i realize you would need to take pretty much an entire bottle, probably more. but all that would get you was a trip to the hospital.

i used to take ibuprofen all the time during soccer and track season because i would get real bad shin splints. it wouldn't be unusual for me to take at least 6 before a game, usually 4 before practice. the only thing i felt was reduced pain in my shins.

Following that supposed 400mg/kg=LD for a 180 pound man it would take over 30,000mg's.(30 grams)
This is exactly what I'm talking about... it is very very difficult to ingest, hold down, and absorb enough to be seriously dangerous in a single incident (the definition of an overdose, not long-term).

Documented cases of ingestion up to 100 grams (that's 100,000 mg, or approx an entire 500 pill bottle) have resulted in no long-term problems.

Can someone die after less? Sure. Again, lots of things can contribute and complicate it, but for some dipshit to take 8 and a few beers and think it's going to do anything... bah, he's just a histrionic, or not very bright, in my book.

Tylenol, on the other hand, can very easily kill those who thought they were just going to get some attention out of it.

Fulminant liver failure FTMFL.

which is why we're no longer friends and we make fun of him all the time...

"dude, i ate like 10 pieces of bread and im totally ****ed up right now!"

"that aint shit! i had about 4 glasses of milk in a row!"
