What's up guys,

I had a 12 inch MA audio sub that handled 600 watts RMS in a sealed box and it sounded pretty good. Today I changed it for a Kicker 12L7 in a ported box and I can hardly hear the bass //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

no he is not, hes sayin that it takes more for the L7 to get goin, thats all. wit your power i would have went for the L5 or cvr.

Well my plan is to slowly build a bad *** system because i can't spend 3,000 bucks at once to buy it.

What would be the cheapest way to improve my bass ?? Should i change my box from ported to sealed ???

or should i leave the ported and upgrade my amp ???

i say next step get a decent size amp, and keep the L7 and go from there. also start wit new box

It should still be plenty loud. Check your wiring. Make sure that the voicecoils are wired in phase and make sure the impedance is correct.

They are wired the same way (at 8ohms) because they are both 4 ohm coils..

wha amp do u have? for the L7 i would say around 3-3.5 cu ported tuned low.

The MA w as probably wired at 2ohms.... Fix the wiring!

I have a cheap amp Performance tekniques 1200 watts model # 779 2 channel...

All the amps I found while Googling "Performance tekniques" were two ohm stable.

Actually, alot of them were dead links/closed.

I'm gonna change the wiring in my sub and i'll let you know how it sounds. if it still doesn't sound good i'll cover the ports on the box to make it sealed (I know it's ghetto) but i gotta save some cash for now....

Yes, wire it at two ohm (provided your amp will handle that) Other wise you arnt putting much power to that sub(s) running it at 8 ohms.
