Can matter be destroyed?

Yes, E = MC² ...... When this was proposed, and the first instances of nuclear fission were created, it was proven that mass could be converted into energy (nutrinos, gluons, quarks, etc. are said to be massless).

Now the question is..... is "mass" a required component of "matter" ?

The white in snow is just a refractions of light being bounced off of it. It absorbs a certain wavelength and reflects all others, allowing you to see the pretty white color left behind!
stop posting intelligent crap. it has no place here

It's not intelligent. Frozen snow is opaque. Light reflects off snow. It only refracts when the snow turns into translucent slush. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

It can be destroyed if Waldo gets near it

ok how do snow flakes get into those shapes that everybody draws?
A snowflake is usually made of many different kinds of snow crystals, and the shape of a snow crystal depends on the temperature at which it forms (colder = sharper, more intricate shapes, warmer = smoother edges). As the crystals fall from the clouds, they bump into other crystals and freeze together, making even more shapes. Thats why it's so hard to have two snowflakes that look the same.

Actually the crystalline structure directly reflects the state of human consciousness and water is now viewed as a universal hard drive of sorts that seems to save our thoughts/vibrations ---> http://www.hado.net/index2.html
