2004 stock Toyota Camry. Has tape deck and CD. Thought I would just run a tape to aux out/3.5 like I had in my last car, but this tape deck makes too much mechanical noise. Sounds like it's on FF it's so loud.
So I am debating on doing either of the following:
Getting the GTA aux in (3.5) kit, and a stand alone, Garmin GPS and XM radio, and just hooking my pone up when wanting Pandora.
Or, finding a head unit that has XM, GPS, and hopefully Pandora support (and Bluetooth).
I am not seeing much of these. There could have been some that I just didn't look at because they were $700+.
I don't mind having the stand alone devices, but I am nervous about tempting people to break into my car, and knowing myself, if I have to pull my XM out, hook two cables up, hook up power, put it in cradle.... I won't use it enough to justify their outrageous monthly fees.
Also, I am nervous about having my phone, GPS, XM, and car stereo turned on at the same time. I know I could just get a bigger fuse, but do I risk shorting an actual wire out with that much load?
Any help, on any of the above issues, will be very greatly appreciated.
Also, haven't hooked a car stereo up in over 10 years. Have they gotten any easier? Is there such a thing as just plugging it in, or am I going to have to do the whole guess work on the wires? If so, I may just take it to a pro. Last one I did, I bought the after market plug, but still had to hook individual wires up, and the dome light never worked again.
Can't they just make plugs, where you just pull out the stereo and plug the new one in?
