Can I DL the latest firmware for my Alpine PXA-H800 onto my computer

and then to the DSP itself in my car?

The cheap WinXP laptop I bought MAY not have Internet connectivity when I'm using it in my car. I DLed and installed the Sound Manager software as the CDs included with my Alpine PXA-H800 were JUNK! Worthless. And I see in the Operating Manual the first step to configure the PXA-H800 DSP is to DL and install the latest and greatest firmware. I'd rather DL it to my computer and them transfer it to the DSP via whatever I want that will work.

Thank you.

Your pxa-h800 should be to the latest version especially since you bought it new. They haven't updated it in a longggg time. You are just wasting your time. I tried it myself and took me forever to get it to work and I ended up with the same exact version that was originally installed in the unit. Total waste of time. They did make a couple updates in the beginning stages to fix glitches and random resets people were complaining about. After they fixed all the bugs, they didn't really have the need to update anymore. I haven't seen any new updates for several years now. You don't need internet connectivity when you're actually tuning it. The USB cable just needs to be connected while doing so and you will have full access. Yea like I said, the CD doesn't work. I warned you about this and that's why I gave you that download link beforehand. You could technically tune everything with that RUX controller you know. It may be easier to adjust everything that way actually. It's just visually easier to understand everything through the computer software that's all.

And another note, if you're gonna go through with the active setup. Just know that you will not hear any sound from the DSP until you have fully configured your crossovers first. This is a safety feature to prevent damage to your tweeters especially as that's very likely to blow if it's set wrong. Even if you try to take the active filter out for the tweeters (channel 1 & 2), they will pop up with a warning sign saying that you may damage your tweeters if you do so. I think this feature is crucial for beginners as you could easily blow your expensive component set if you don't know what you're doing.

I'm not going full active right at first. Passive crossovers on the PHD 5.25" drivers and separate tweeters. The Alpine SWR-69 6x9's have coaxial tweeters.

How are you configuring your speakers in your van?

I'm just trying to figure out in my head how you can make those speakers all work together, And also take advantage of what your DSP can do. . It looks like you'll have 6 tweeters in different locations, unless maybe if all four 6x9's are for rear channels as fill sound i don't see how this could work passively.

4 Alpine SPR-69 midrange

2 PHD 5.1 AF 5.25" drivers w/ separate tweeters and passive crossovers with plans of going full active!

Yeh, I'm wrestling with that myself, and I think that's an approach I may take, or at least use the rear two 6x9's as passive fill drivers. My "front stage" is basically the drivers/passenger's door 6x9's and the two PHD 5.25" drivers and their associated tweeters. Oh, and the 12" subwoofer, but that's driven off the 500W subwoofer output off my big amp, my Alpine PDX-V9.

I dunno, I am just trying things here and I may not ever get everything about of my DSP that I can. But that's my own fault, I know. I'm learning as I go, trying things and gleaning some prime nuggets of information I can squeeze out of Caraudio, com and DIYMA.com more recently too (in between a lot of noise!)

Yeah, that's probably what I'm gonna go with. The more and more I learn about my PXA-H800 the more I regret buying it, really. But it;s what I have so I'm gonna try to work with it as much as possible,

Exactly, that's the way I feel about the computer "Sound Manager" software. I bought the RUX controller just because I could, but I really hate all those little tiny "scroll through and hit the correct tiny buttons" pieces of junk! I like a lot of "real estate" with my computers and software. I have a 27" monitor on my desktop computer on which I am typing right now, and I do not have or use a "cell phone" partially due to the same reason! Itty bitty screens! Plus I do not want to be that contactable!
