Can I cross power and speaker wires?

Kind of a n00b question, I admit. In my upcoming install I don't see a way around it but I think my power wire and speaker wire are going to have to cross. I know low level connections and power wire shouldn't cross, but would there be any ill effects of crossing speaker and power wires or running them close together?

It's fine. You can even cross power and line level audio cables at right angles, it's just best to keep them apart when possible and avoid running them parallel. That's the real problem. Power and speaker wires are not as sensitive an issue. Crossing them is not a problem.
