Have you deactivated the smart stay and smart pause functions of the note 3?

This is an issue with the white s4 version cable.

No. Plugged a charger into it an it worked. Even using the 5.3v Samsung charger it discharges while streaming. I didn't think the mhl needed power to work

If your phone does not have enough power then it needs a charger. My nexus 5 can use usb otg without external power.

The eBay ad clearly states: *** Some customers reported external power may be needed to use this adapter ***

Next time dont by a Samsung Knock off.

Because all authentic Samsung gear comes with a holographic sticker of authenticity and the pictures in the ad you posted dont have one.

Alright, definitely did some research on the real ones and fake ones. Thanks whitedragon.... why in the Hell does it discharge while it's charging thou? Will a real Samsung one keep it from doing that?

Started with 16 percent on my phone, plugged it in an streamed two 45 minute episodes an it went to 11 percent. Showed it was charging the whole time

Also that is through vlc with my screen off while streaming

Do I need to buy it direct from Samsung or are there other places that sale the good one or a better one for less than 60 or 40 bucks. Think they're 40 from Samsung which isn't bad and 60 through best buy. Neither show the box on their websites thou I don't believe
