Well I built a box for my 12" Dayton RS HO, using moe-lesters design (thanks - btw), it's 2ft^3 tuned to 31 hz. It's really loud, but alot more boomy than I was hoping for, I'm sure some of that's due to how low it's tuned. The box seemed too 'Boomy", and it sounded a little sloppy. It was my first time building a box, and the fist time I've ever used a ported box., so I didn't really know what to expect. I don't listen to rap often at all, but just for kicks I'll (well, to show off) crank it every once in a while. Here are my Questions: Would a box tuned higher yeild a little better SQ? Or would I just be better off going with a sealed box? Also, If I added another sub and decided to use a vented enclosure, would it be okay if the shared the same air space? (for simplicity of box design) Comments suggestions? Pics of the sub and box:
