No Idea how different the newer ones are. But I had a mk1 XXX and my friend had a mk1 brahma. I always thought they were similar in output and SQ. ive had both 15's. MKII brahma and 05 XXX.

xxx > brahma in spl

brahma > xxx in sq and low end.

well in my applications anyways.

i drove up to adire last week, and got my 15" MK1 reconed to a 12" w/12spoke basket. needless to say, there great guys. i was very happy with the service i recieved, and they even let me check out all the subs/speakers/reconing process. it was pretty sweet.

all in all i chose adire over RE in the begining because adire is located in my home state vs. re being in nevada.

also as far as output goes, either one is going to be very loud. brahma/xxx= SQL the brahmas are slightly more efficient though and can do the same off less power. both have amazing SQ and can get LOOOWWW!
