[QUOTE="mvw2, post: 3628547, member: 574722"] "Ideal" flat (Qb = 0.707) is a 5 cu.ft. box. However, the sub can be used in down to a 1.5 cu.ft. box with minimal effect on peakiness(within 1dB of flat) and low frequency extention(loss of about 2Hz). The RSD is a great low frequency driver. You get a very low F3 (-3dB roll off point) of 30Hz and a sub that's not too picky about box size. The sub does have a couple downsides. First, the sub doesn't really go above 100Hz. Second everything above 60-70Hz is not all that clean sounding(less musically). The sub is geared specifically for low frequency duty. As well, for a sealed, large box driver, it should have a whole lot more excursion. The 13.5mm it's rated for just doesn't go that far. Generally in a large box, sealed configuration, you like to see something more along the lines of 20-30mm xmax. You're pretty much looking at 100dB at 30Hz max of clean output. Then you run outside of xmax into its unclean range. 100dB is enough to match the front speakers and blend musically, but it will be outside of its linear range when you crank it up. They've stress tested the driver off up to 2kW to make sure it wouldn't fail off normal use. The sub can get loud, but it won't necessarily be clean doing so. I would suggest using the woofer in a largish sized box, a bit more than 1.5 cu.ft., say more on the order of 3 cu.ft. or so. I would also suggest crossing low at 60Hz or 70Hz.
