Ok...So I took my 2003 Suburban to the local shop and had them put in a Pioneer AVH-3300bt. They were supposed to hook it up w/on-star, bose, chimes..etc... they got it half right but that's another story. I took it back to them because the chimes were not working and a host of other issues (not that I like the noise I'm juts a a big fan of having things as OEM as possible) and after getting me down there they said it would be another $100...No thanks...it's only $25 on amazon for the module... So I have come to the conclusion they are TOTALLY iincompetent and I'm going to have to redo the install myself and I'm looking for a bit of direction...It's been about 20 years since I installed a deck, or HU as they are now referred to. Funny thing is I think I paid about $350 for my Sony HU back in the day and the new ones are about the smae price so it seems some things have stayed the same?! From what I can tell the installer used the PAC OS-2 Bose interface for the install. I'll be hooking up the CM-1 module to it which appears pretty straight forward. So the issues I am having: 1. There is a hiss coming from the speakers. It happens when the engine is on or not and regardless of any source selected. Not too sure what would cause this but it appears as though I need to do a ground loop on the RCA's? 2. Alternator whine coming through OnStar. This I am sure is a ground issue (at least it would be 20 years ago). I'm just not sure what needs to get grounded better..I have heard people running a ground "straight to the battery". Would this mean I need to find the ground wire off the harness and connect it to the battery? Would I be able to run it to the chassis ground instead? 3. Weird electrical things started happening about 2 weeks after the install. I thought it may be that the new unit was draining the battery faster than the alternator could juice it up but now I am thinking I need to take it to the dealer and have the reprogram the Body Control Modules? Thanks for any help in advance!!
