I think it was planned, but the people he interacted with had no idea what was going on. In that sense, it isn't scripted. Have you ever seen Dog Bites Man? It's the same thing. There are scripted scenes to make a general plot, but the interactions with the general populace are unscripted.

i'm talking about the scenes with his producer etc. etc. just thought they could've been a whole lot better and didn't really add to the movie much at all.

Also in my mind ali g sucked! Borat character is a lot funnier.

the producer and set up scenes are what made it a movie as opposed to being two hours of tv show like clips pieces together.

I'm in to all types of comedies. But if you did not laugh once during Borat, I'd seriously like to know what 'comedies' you people like.

IMO Borat was the funniest movie I've seen in a LONG time.
