I could not agree more would much rather have a vehicle that is paid off and slightly older and uglier than a new pretty vehicle that is breaking me on a weekly basis

Or worry about that 400 dollar car payment every month. No thanks. I've had like 3 in my lifetime. That's enough for me. 1800 bucks for a vehicle is fine with me. Sure it has 200k miles on it, it's expected to go thru a few repairs and such but....I'd rather do that then keep having car payments.
Hey @los33 do serpentine belts loosen up over time? I looked at my old one for cracks and such and it's still good. Wonder if it stretched itself out...
Belts stretch within months especially with the amount of torque a 5.7 has.

Idler pulley becomes loose making stretching happen quicker, and tensioner bounce does too which overtime the tensioner goes bad.

@los33 So finally got to drive the Tahoe yesterday and the strangest thing happens to the squeeling...it doesn't happen while driving but once I turn on the heater it does it, esp when I accelerate.

You got a stuck belt bro.
stuck on what? I've examined it and watched it turn...
Something associated with the heat.

The fuck do I look like some kind of mechanic?
Lmfao, he trolling your a$$..
Belt squeal happens only on heavy load aka heater turning on/running drawing amperage from alt..

Check alt bearing and belt.

As you know, alt is new....if it ever quits raining here, i'll exaimine the belt one more time. Maybe take the dam thing off.
