Blown tweets

Hey I'm trying to hook up my slc-265's active, and it sounded wierd, so I'm noticing that no sound is coming out of my tweets. I have checked the wires, and they are fine, rca's are fine, all channels of the amp are fine, but no sound comes out of the tweets. I can hook them up and i hear like a buzzing type noise, it's very faint, but no actual sound comes out.... are they blown or do you think it's another problem???

If you hook it up directly to the HU or even an HT receiver, and if it does the same thing, then it sounds blown to me.

yeah but the problem is i can't really get the tweeter out of the door without really delving into a lot of work lol. Any other way to test if it's blown???

okay, well I'm not sure what the problem could be then... I hooked the passives back up and everything sounds fine, but for some reason the tweets don't play when hooked up via active.....

Hmm, no clue...maybe when the passives are unhooked it's shorting out somewhere?

but i'm using the same wiring. Only thing i can think is that the output on the deck is bad?? I have switched both rca channels on the input of the amp, switched all of the outputs for speakers etc and all amp channels work. This leads me to believe that the only thing that could be wrong is the high (rear) output on the 9887 is faulty because it doesn't put out any sound. That or the switch for setting the deck to 3 way is broken, but then it should still put out sound right?

gotta have seperate channels on the amp to run it like this

u working w a 4 chasnnel, or 2 2 channels?

you gotta have a pair of speakerwire going all the way back to the amps for the mids, and the tweeters.

i know that... i have a zx650.4 in the trunk. 4 total runs of 12ga speaker wire going to the trunk. The passives are also in the trunk so i can just wire them, then hook it up to the amp and everything works fine. However when i get rid of the passives and try to hook up the actives, they don't work.
