Blown Diamond Comps, Advice???

I properly set the gain on amp and have battled with these since day 1. These are the D6 5.25" comps. I'm powering them with two channels of my Alpine PDX 4.150. They should see a good 150 watts/channel when played hard. These speakers seem happiest when crossed over at 100hz. They don't have alot of excursion and can't play bass at higher volumes. Another dealer is trying to sell me JL ZR series claiming they will distort less at volume and have more excursion. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks!

i beat the heck out of mine with more power than that. you can literally hear when you have pushed them too far. how in the heck can you blow those and not know that you are going to bloaw them up?

Mine cannot take full power on most rock cd's. They audibly distort. I may have damaged the one due to playing the sub so loud that I couldn't hear the comps distort. Keep in mind that I utilize the x-over in my Pioneer 780 HU set at 100HZ HP. I'm wondering if the x-over on the amp is more accurate?
