Hello just started getting back in to car audio this is my first post. The question i have is i lent my car to a budy and i have a alpine pdx-1.1000 amp and a alpine swx-1243D sub in a jeep rubicon. well i got the car back and all my fuses on my amp were blown so he must of been pumping it hard. why does alpine have so many fuses on the amp and why would they blow is it from the sub blowing up or is it from the amp heating up so much from pounding sub so hard. the system was hooked up by a professional shop. thanks

Yes it works. but why would all the fuses blow do u think i have lost some of the power of the amp from the fuses blowing. like burnt board or something. when i was playing with car audio it was 15 years ago and they only had one fuse on the amps hahah. not 4

Your amp could have been damaged yes...those fuses should not be blowing...that is usually an indicator that something is wrong or is going to go wrong.

charge that ******* $50 bucks lol

I had a kicker zx250.2 that randomly blew the fuse. I replaced the fuse and the amp instantly blew the fuse again and started smoking. So I believe when the fuse first blow it is a sign that something is wrong or about to go wrong.

The fuse only blew once. i think he fried the sub because it does not sound very good anymore. if he burnt my voice coils would that be enough to blow the fuses

Not on topic:

put a second amp on it... and put a fan on those amps...

if YOU know car audio, check for any loose wires, a loose ground or anything like that.

I am not a master of car audio but usually whenever I had a problem, it was something simple like that.

Maybe someone else with a bit more experience could chime in.

Edit: The last amp I had that blew all the fuses... when I replaced them and turned it on, the entire board was fried the instant it tried to work.

What music was your friend playing? Was it clean CD's (mp3's 160kbps and higher) or digital radio? or was it 96kbps mp3 and bobo-quality sound?

If the coils were damaged, it could of gotten a lower ohm load than the amp is stable at, causing the amp to blow it's fuses.

The dummys were drunk in a parking lot pounding the shit out of my system for hours while i was passed out at home. there was girls around so i guess they were trying to impress them and i heard u could hear the bass all over the park so they cliped the shit out of the sub like u said. its a jeep so sound travels large.

It sounds like he owes you money...I ****ing hate friends.

The sub could have blown causing a lower load making the amp blow its fuses. Like me and someone else said its definitely a sign that something is wrong or will be wrong.

Blown Amp Fuses=You're Screwed!

I would check the subs to make sure they are both working properly. Many amps will blow fuses if run continuously at very high volume levels. Generally, this is not a problem with music, but with test tones, or bass cd's, that's a different story. For the record, Alpine's first gen pdx-1.1000 used (4) 20 amp fuses. I think they upgraded to (4) 25amp fuses later. Probably people had problems blowing them too often. The reduced output could be damaged sub(s), or the amp. Double check your gains also, as your buddies could have changed it.
