Black History Month Timeline!

eh. i'll admit it. i do have about 10 black friends. But in all seriousness i guess its not fair for me to judge by what i see at my school.
I was walking down the hall i think it was wednesday and some kid was talking on his phone, a teacher told him to give it to her and he was like "nuh uh mane its black history month mane"

I guess that kinda shows the caliber of people at this school...

Sounds like a school full of stupid *** people. Kinda like mine but we only have 3 black kids and all three make themselves look bad.

yeah. thing about our school. about 65% are black. about 5-10% of them are decent, the rest are hooligans, about 10% hispanic...about half are decent, the rest is white, well over half of them are flat out trash and punks. so.... yeah, our school is shitty. whats worse is how crowded our school is. not even enough lockers for everyone, hallways are overcrowded...ugh.

yeah. but most of them believe it is that way. during the whole month of February we had an announcement every morning about a black person in history who did something important, well, the majority of the black kids didn't even care to listen to the announcements, they just ignore the real reason black history month was established.

hmm was he joking? cause im black and i was doing stuff like this all month..to ppl i joke with not just random ppl..

where do you live? cause where i live its like 70% black and the all the white ppl kids goes to private school or to the next school thats a town over. i went i went to that school that all the white kids because my parents felt as though it was better. I can honestly say its two different worlds..I have been in to fights for white ppl being disrespectful and shit but since i tested so high in on my tests i was in CP and AP classes so 8 out of 10 times im the only black person in the class and it seems like the teacher looks to you to set the example for your entire race. Or it seems they was extra hard on you. my 9th and 10th grade years was the hardest! I could adjust.

Hmm far as going to the other high school that is primarly black it was fun for me it seems like the teachers didnt care and grades wasnt important as much as shittin on the next person (sports, cracking jokes, dressing nice, etc) so its just where you came luckly i had a chance to live n the bad hood and go to a good school..but i always wondered what would happen to me if i stayed at the black school cause i got afew friends locked up for thief and murder before they even gradatue. I like where i came from and all the style of the hood.

I just look at it this way its where you grow that determines what kind of person you are not what skin color..

I just hope this can clear up some stuff..

No, that kid wasn't joking, hes pretty much known for calling a teacher racist the second they say anything to him.

But I gotta agree with you on your last statement. Like I said, a good majority of the white kids are just as bad as the bad black kids. Just the fact that whites are a minority there I guess it makes it seem that much worse. BTW i'm in jacksonville, AR.

I'm also in AP core classes. Most of it I dont really need though. But I know in my english class there are 3 black kids and they are extremely smart. But its like as soon as you walk out the door all you see are people going crazy. A good 85% of our school is crap. It would be nice if it was like some other schools, where AP classes are actually separated from regular classes, that way smart kids (generally) in one area, and people who don't give a shit or are dumb in another area.

Umm NO. Your decisions, choices, actions, and outlook on life determine the kind of person you are. Granted some people have it tougher than others and have more opportunities, EVERYONE has the ability to show self-discipline, respect to others, and desire and motivation for success. When people stop blaming their surrounding and making excuses, then maybe they will amount to something.

Your post made it seem like the "hood" was the "hood" and rough and tough because it was populated by a majority of black people. Watch Chris Rock's "I Hate Nigger's" stand up. It's funny, but it's also a sad truth. Yet when respected members of the community such as Bill Cosby and Charles Barkely speak out against the youth and the "hip-hop gangsta's" their words are seen as offensive and rejected.

Maybe instead of blaming "The Man" and the surroundings and the government and racism, people should look in the mirror.
