Big enough Dimensions to make a good ported XXX15 box?

I just took my MAX dimensions of my trunk because I want to make a new box for my XXX15 because my current box blows!!! These are the dimensions I got:

32"W x 23"L x 16.5"H

Those would be the max external dimensions of my box. When I multiplied those together I got a max external volume of a little over 7ft^3 which doesn't sound right to me. Sum1 else calculate it for me and see what you get. Also what kind of internal volume could I get with this? Also, when people say they have a 4ft^3 box for their XXX I know they mean internal volume but is that before or after displacement?
