best way to build a great 18.....

ok so its already set in stone that i will sell my re sx. im looking for something that will hit hard. i think its a great sub and sounds great. but for my needs its not hitting as hard i planned. so im was looking at buying thing along the lines of a re mt 18 but they are not cheap. I dont know the fi Btl dc level 5-6 compare but i need a comp sub for my needs. so i was thinkin i could just build a sub for a great price. i was thinks about using a mt platform and getting a psi recone with all the extras. is this a good idea or should i just find a better sub and cash out....as of now i dont have a budget yet just want something that pounds alot harder then this sx .. as for power maybe under 4k which i believe i could handle with a xs 3100 and 160 amp alt
