Best amp for pair of components, under $200?

Hi guys,

I have a pair of HiFonics Zeus ZXi 6.5C components waiting to go in my front doors; I know they're not Focals but I'm a college student and money is tight. I'm looking to amp them for under $200 and want to know what you guys think the best option is. From the research I've done the LiteBox looks like a good one; it will have to fit under my passenger seat. I listen to a lot of electronic/techno and am something of an audiophile; sound quality is more important to me than raging SPL. Get two of these: WoofersEtc.com - FD 2100 - ARC Audio 2 Channel 190 Watt Amplifier

Then start saving for decent speakers...

Yeah I know I just wanted something better than stock for now and all reviews I found were good.

I saw that in the classifieds- you'd go with that over the litebox?

the litebox is very nice. but it did run very hot on a 4 ohm 2 channel bridged setup in my uncles truck recently. we sent is back and are waiting on a crescendo 1000c4

I read another review saying how they got unbearably hot... hrm interesting. especially seeing as it would be under a seat.

i went as far as letting it cool off and holding it airborne for a full song at 3/4 volume and it still got extremely hot. I thought it just wasn't venting good on the floor but it was hot no matter where it was. May not run so hot at a standard 4 channel 4 ohm load though. Never tried it cuz its not possible with his setup.

those zeus will stomp CDT midline sets that go for 250+ fyi.... install is everything...

they are far from audiophile grade but just because they are inexpensive doesn't make em garbage by far either..

maybe try listening to a properly installed set of them and hear for yourself... not astonishing by any means but far from crap... In fact they have 4 sets of them in the SQ Hummer build iirc... install install install ....

and yes I would do a ZED crunch over anything new OP...

@sicaudio. the cdt comparison is moot in my book because i owned a set of m6 and drt26's. the woofers fell apart at rated power and the tweeters were terrible. the cheapo jbl components i have now sound way better and thats not really saying much. LOL BTW i'm running the jbl's on the same amp i murdered the cdt's with.

I only used CDT cuz there was a huge boner here awhile back for the gold version that was going for 250ish and 2 of the people in my sig got them and were very sad when a "cheap" set of zeus buttraped them in every possible way lol..

yeh. luckily i only paid 100 for the whole set. it was on the b-stock section at cdt's site.

I highly doubt the OP has the budget or ability to install/use an external EQ.
