beef with futureshop!!

well, my friend wanted a sub, for about 200 bucks and give it about 300 rms, so i reccomended the rockford HE, so we go into futureshop and i was talking to the salesman and the head installer about the box and the amp, i told them it was a 4cuft box tuned to 45hz (then he says, goin for sound quality hey? then we argue about tuning frequencies for a while, he told me all about tuning youre box to under 30hz if you want pure spl ) next i tell him the amp, 300wrms, 100 over the recomended for the HE, at that, the head installer says "with 4 cubes and 300rms, you better go with the 4 year warranty," then i make the salesman clarify the warranty, "you can blow it as many times as you want, we will replace it no questions asked" so he buys the sub.

the next day the sub fries the vc, so i get my mom to take it in to get a new one for him, then at home she calls me from futureshop, and a salesman and 3 installers are all *****ing at her about the sub, saying it was customer abuse, and the warranty was void because of the box it was put in allready!! they give him a new sub but said never again!!

now he has wasted 60 bucks on nothing!!

is this guy running a sub sonic filter on the amp? 45 is high w/ no SSF.. if he isnt running a SSF, then i agree w/ F.Shop.. customer abuse.. but if they said "blow it as many times as you want, we;ll always replace", then they are in wrong.. they told me "we'll replace your amp if you blow it OVER THE COUNTER trade.." then they send it away to get fixed for a MONTH.. only needed a new LP filter.. **** future shop and their rotten salesmen..

i've yet to find a guy who knows what he's REALLY talking about and will be honest with you

I went into Lehman Electronics (local stereo shop), and was looking at components, and the guy there told me that I could put as many watts as I want to the comps so long as they don't distort.

I find it hard to believe that I can give them 500 watts regardless of weather they will distort or not.

I've more or less given up on going into any local shop when it comes to car stereo equipment.

of course theres no ssf on it, its a mtx pro 150x2, but they said that he has to change the box to what they say, and to tell you the truth, i dont think that sub would make him happy in a 1 cuft ported box at 33 hz. thats what they said it has to go in. not to mention the installer said that my friend is lucky that he is allowed to build it, they were gonna make him buy a prefab

They can't MAKE you buy anything. At that point I would have been inclined to tell them to lick my ***, and proceeded to walk out. What a joke.

it wasnt me that was in there, cause i gaurantee they wouldnt have pulled that on me, it was my mom cause we live out of town and she was goin in anyways. futureshop guys like me and hate me, cause sometimes i will talk about how crappy a sub sounds in the demo room to someone who wants to buy it, but i bullshit with them a lot, i get a kick out of them knowing nothing.

get your money back bro. you dont want to abuse a sub, but rather you tune it 35 or 45 they cant make you do anything. get your money back NOW.

Sorry, but I agree with the shop on this one, it was customer abuse. He's already 50% over the recommended wattage. Then he takes the power handling down even more by not only porting it, but putting it in a HUGE box. Adding the topping to the cake he's got the box tuned fairly high relatively speaking with no SS filter. If you ask me, he merely paid $60 for a new sub, and he WILL fry another one guaranteed.

It all comes down to the wording of the warranty he bought as to whether they should keep replacing them with that box and amp. But I agree they SHOULD have given him a hard time about it but they also SHOULD have given him at least one replacement sub, which they did.

Hey, maybe I just misunderstood something I read. But as is, this is how I feel.
