Well, as the title reads, I am not the brightest of individuals and at one point when trying to replace my battery accidentally had the positive and negative leads connected backward. This, of course, was bad and ended up blowing the main 100A fuse in my car. I have since fixed the fuse and checked all the other fuses in both my engine compartment and in the interior. However, upon discovering no broken fuses and putting a new fuse for the circuit labeled "radio" my radio/CD player still does not work at all (and neither do the overhead interior lights). Research has led me to believe that my radio is basically screwed and I need a new unit, but no one has really asked this exact question in my search online so I wasn't positive. So, basically, my question is: did my utter stupidity cause me to fry me radio completely and is there anything I should know before replacing it?

(I have a 2001 Mazda that has a [broken] stock radio currently.)

Thanks in advance, I hope someone has more knowledge than I and can help me out.

so you checked all fuses in the vehice for continuity with a meter?

you can pull the radio out, and then pull the plug and turn the key to check for the proper 12v on the power and remote wires. same with the interior lights

Update: I have tested the radio directly to the battery, it works. So that means there's another problem. I'm sure the radio fuse is not the issue because I changed it out with another fuse that was working and it the radio does not work. How do I check the wiring in my car to find what I assume to be a breakage in the circuitry somewhere?

Buy a meter and test. Start at the radio harness . Next check for power where the radio fuse is. Most likely it is a fuse u missed somewhere
