ok, im dumping my alpine 9813 (i can not get rid of this **** alternator whine to save my life)

now, im only going to have my car for the next three months so i dont want to spend ALOT of money on a new headunit.

so i need a new headunit. ive had a pioneer in the past and i like them, so im gonna go back to them. the question, though, is which one.

ive got my choice narrowed down to (based on eBay results):

pioneer premier 860mp

pioneer premier 80mp (if i can find one)

pioneer premier 780

pioneer premier 880prs

ive found a 860mp (refurb //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif) on ebay for $100 right now, granted it will go up...

if i can find an 80mp i think ill get that one. my friend has one and therefore i have personal experience with it and i like it.

i really like the looks of the 780, the only downside is the price.

i know the 880prs is probably the best one, but i threw that one in there, despite the fact that its out of my price range, solely because if i get enough good feedback about it ill spend the extra dough.

my ideal price range would be $200-$250. who has experience with said units?

comments? good? bad?

Ive had the premier 780 for a few weeks now and love it, i perfered the color screen over the black and white one, but thats me.

I installed my 780 yesterday and so far love it. Great HU, easy to navigate and set up.. the best mp3 navigation ive seen.

first non elicpse unit ive owned.. and so far i think its just as good as the 5303r and 8454.

plus its got a sweet screen.

Dont worry about how long youll have your car, you can take it with you to your next ride.

Lots and lots of features, very solid deck.

there is an 860 on ebay right now (actually two) that im watching, if they stay low i will pick one up. but you guys are making me want the newer decks.

ive read a couple of complaints about the 780 in recent days on here (screen blacking out and such). can anyone comment?

i have the 860 i love it, im not a fan of the new ones i hate the one knob controls everything....

yeah i had the 4600 a couple years ago, much the same configuration, minus all the sauve controls that the 860 has. i liked the way it is set up. i think i could adjust to the 1 knob, my friend who has one does just fine with it, although he barely knows how to use 1/2 the shit on the deck.

well if you hate noise might wanna stay clear of the 860. lots have been known to have a ground trace problem but if it's a refurb i suppose that could've been fixed. the 860 would be a great deck. has all the features you really need

I have the 680 and I wished I would have waited for the 880. I hate the giant knob interface.

i sent my 780 back. i own 2 880's right now and wouldn't turn back. if you want to save some $, go with the 860 as it's close to the 880 but as mentioned, they do sometime's have noise floor issues. i wouldn't look at the 80mp but that's b/c i think it looks like the newer eclipse decks, aiwaish. IMO 880 i mean you can find em' for about 310 shipped on ebay right now, that's only 60 outta your range.
