Bass lines/notes change when turned up?

well when i turn my system up past a certain point the bass kind of fades in and out with diffrent tones/lines. then when i turn it down again the bass notes are perfect. it never did this before. what could cause this?

Voltage problems? Loose Connection? Clipping your amp?

my sub does the same thing. at 20, max volume when i set my gains. and when i turn it up around 24 my sub sounds a lot less compared to 20. its suppose to be louder. its a 200 rms sub. 110 amp alt. 2 batt.
