bass level question

i got a kx400.1 with a bass level controller. is this a bass boost, or is it just a volume knob? ive had these before, but this one is different. when its at 0, the subs are off. when i turn it up, they play. i was told these could cause problems (but they said bass boost controllers) i dont think this is a bass boost, or is it? j/w which one it is, and why its bad to use it. as of now, im not using it.

yea cuz this one goes from 0 to 11, the other ones said 1db and go up to 12db. i brought my car into the audio shop and he said not to use it cause it could cause problems.

I don't use one because I have a sub level control on my TV and I could turn the subs off if I want

well i was just wondering if it was a bass boost or just a volume control cause if its a volume control, it should be safe to use, right?

I like a bass knob. Its a quick easy controll for subs. You can leaave it off/down if you want!
