If a ported box is designed for spl, and a sealed boz is designed for sq then what is a bass band box for? Are bass band boxes any good?

unless properly designed, bandpass sound like ***, aka stay away from prefabs

BP enclosures (6th order definitely, 4th order very likely) are designed to get loud over a narrow range of frequencies - a loud farting box if not built to very close tolerances and some real thought is put into it.

Unless you like to listen to loud, wet farts, steer clear.
