look @ this pic. i noticed that the basket and motor don't line up all the way. is this gonna be a problem when i recone?i think that it'll all work out but i wanted some opinions.

I would think that when you glue down the spider and cone they would be offset a little also. Which may make the offset between the motor and basket a problem.

on the right side...the basket doen't hang over the gap. it kinda looks like it does in the pic. but it comes right to the edge. where are all the speaker reps when you need them?

you cannot see the topplate in that picture, the topplate is the metal plate that is directly above the magnets on the sub.....it's what those big screws you see are screwed into
You can see the top plate in that photo... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/waycrazy.gif.f4a380c3f94043939fd369defd9e6be2.gif

Jellyfish -

If you are smart, you'll junk the project.

If you aren't, check for scraping around the basket, if there is none - remove the screws (locally heat them up with a butane torch if they are loctite'd in), and try to set the basket, if you can't, grind an area out to adjust.

If the gap isn't centered (from the photo it doesn't look like it is) - check for scraping again, this time on the top plate and yoke - if you see some - seriously - Give up. It's over.

Looks like the basket is hanging over the gap from my angle, need verification of that.

Well, so long as there is no scraping, and the basket is NOT overhanging the top plate at all, I'd leave it alone.

That top photo in your recent post is 100 times better visually - in instances of taking photos like this, try to always aim dead on at the center of the yoke. (yeah, I know... We are all going to need to remember that the next time we tear down a speaker, right?)

Anyway. So long as the basket doesn't overhang, leave it.

You should be fine.

Right. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I agree. Just be sure you align the voice coil with the pole piece when glueing it down and you should be fine. The glue will hold it in the proper place. Sure the basket might be a hair off center, but I doubt you will even be able to notice.
