Audiobahn ALUM12N

I wanted to see what yall guys thought about the audiobahn ALUM12Ns. I dont understand how they are 1000rms and they are so cheap. i know yall talk about how audiobahn is so cheap but if they really say 1000rms watts and its not true how do they get away with false advertisement?

tons of companys have so called false advertisement... u can get a type r about same price that is really 1000rms if thats wat ur looking for...

You've got a lot to learn, but I'll at least start you off. First off, subs don't produce power, amps do. Secondly, the amount of power a sub can take does NOT tell you how loud it will get. Some subs are more effecient than others and get louder with less power. Third, most company's rate specs differnently, bad companies, like AB, basically lie to make their numbers bigger. They figure if the numbers are bigger and their stuff looks better, unknowing people will think its good and buy it. Here's some of the ways they cheat

1.Peak power: they measure an amps performance while pushing a unrealistically high voltage through it, something you'd never see from a car battery, then measure the watts, if it were to sustain that for more than a second, the amp would fry, but techically it did put out that much power. This is sometimes referred to an ILS figure. (if lightning strikes)

2.They can probably rate subs the same way. Our amp can put out "2000" watts, the sub can take it, so the sub must be able to handle 2000 watts RMS, right? I'd be fairly suprised if that AB could handle a real 1000 watt amplifier, even if it could, that wouldn't necessarily mean it was loud. It tells you even less about how the subs sounds, which AB has a pretty bad reputation there too. There's lot of subs that can handle half the power the AB claims it can that I would rather have in my car!

Assuming your not asking about something you've already purchased, let me know your budget and I can help you get a good sub setup going.

Thanks for that explaination i am fairly new to car audio i mean i am not dumb when it comes to this stuff i just dont know the technical stuff like Ohms, series, parallel, and stuff like that. Its just that i wanted to know why everyone hates AB and say there stuff is junk. I mean i have heard some AB 15s and they sounded pretty good to me and they werent even top of the line ABs. I mean the only thing i would have changed that i didnt realize when i bought my subs was that they were 6 ohms. I did already purchase the subs and now i am working on getting a amp. How much power would you recommend me putting to these subs? i think i am set on the Hifonics BXi 1606. I think its 1600 rms watts at 1 ohm or at least thats what they claim. How do you think this setup will sound? So why do guys say that the Alpine type Rs are better then Audiobahn ALUM12N? Is it because of the quailty or is it because they can handle more power? Well any help or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks
