Audiobahn A8000T may have died tonight...

In my '98 Corolla, I have an A8000T wired to two AW100Ts at 2 ohms for an 800w RMS output. The amplifier sometimes suffers from overheating, so I thought nothing of it when it shut down tonight. Gave it a good rest, but it never came out of protect mode. After replacing a blown fuse, I tried again. Now it gets power and lights up, but the subs are still silent. What's really strange is that, if I listen closely to the subs, I can hear a faint bumping every second or so. Apart from that, nothing.

When I got home, I successfully narrowed the problem down to either the amplifier, or a power issue with the car itself. Wired different subs, a different head unit, all new fuses, still nothing. Anyone have any idea what's going on with this?

This rather old amp has seen years of daily use - at LEAST 5000 hours - so it may have just given up the ghost. Assuming it has, can anyone point me in the direction of a new one (the model was discontinued some time ago and has all but disappeared) or a good alternative with the same 2-ohm wattage output?

I had a 4-channel Audiobahn A400T in my Mustang.....back in high school; first system.....good times =]

...I remember it stayed pretty hot also, & eventually the power supply blew...much nicer amp than you'd expect though..........

anyway, lol.....

I 2nd phoenix....check out MB Quart
