Att

Lolzy. Probably got it as a steal too. Pennies on the dollar. Good for stock holders since they're all the same people for both companies.....
not sure what they paid, but probably not a lot..

i do know it's taken fkin forever because i've been stuck with the dying entity formerly known as Alltel for what seems like an eternity. Unlike a pheonix rising from the ashes, when it has come to offering decent new phones Alltel has been less than steller.

i mean for gods sake i'm still using a blackberry tour.. with a fckin track ball!! All of the Android offerings have always been terrible to this tour was my best option.. and this was only last January when i signed a 1 year contract //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I've been watching the industry for over decade because I find it so amusing. Now that Google is trying to take over every facit if communication on the planet, it will be interesting to see what happens. I mean now that they finally have competition...
My Droid-based phone uses the Bing search engine.

Ill give you guys a basic run down of what I need to know about.
ATT for the last 3 months has changed my bill. Its supposed to be $69.99 + tax per month. Last month it was $108. This month its $284. I want to switch to Verizon, but before I did I called ATT to cancel my contract and pay the early termination fee. I was ready to pay the fee which is only $105. Well the lady I talked to told me she will wipe away all those charges and my bill for this month will be reduced to $117 and if I still cancel those charges could be added back to my final bill. Is this lady blowing smoke or just trying to keep me from cancelling anyways? I personally dont see how they could recharge me for those if I pay this months bill in its entirity. If the lady was infact right I will be charged $284 +$105 for cancelling + money for the new contract through a new provider which I am trying to avoid.

Anyone have any insight?
my friends mom worked for sprint cingular and att and she was in the "screwing people dept" she always says that theyre all the same they do this and that to keep getting money from you, they used to bump up ur price so you would complain and they could appear to do you a favor by reducing it again after giving you the runaround in an attempt to gain their loyalty. honestly every service provider is after one thing, your money...not delivering a quality service. unfortunately its just the nature of the beast.

Stick with the big three bro. The Alltel's of the world are designed to fail.
ya i had ATT when i moved here but it lost signal about 6 hours from my house. The town i was in had one option if you wanted to be able to use your phone indoors.. and it was cellular-one... who coincidently had been my very first cell provider in the 90s before they were bought in that market by Verizon iirc. In my current market, they were eventually bought by Alltel, who was then bought by Verizon who sold me off to ATT like i was a worthless trick.

i get around.

Fuck yea bro.
I remember when the ballin slide out ones came out. I went from

I tried to explain this to Whitedragon, but obviously my help wasn't worth it to him. Didn't get so much as a thanks. Whatever. I haven't known a single phone company that doesn't overcharge your bills for no reason. My mom has never gotten a single Sprint bill that wasn't waaaaay off what it was supposed to be. I think Dragon is lucky it only happened to him 3 times! I doubt he'll be any more lucky with verizon, although he will likely have better coverage.

The iphone thing is not going to hurt AT&T...anyone who switches over early has to pay the ETF, which is just more money in att's pockets. iPhones are waning in popularity anyways, and will continue to do so unless the iPhone 5 is somehow revolutionary, which it could be. Currently, there are at least 3 AT&T phones I would get instead of the iPhone (captivate, atrix, inspire), and the same goes for Verizon. There are plenty better choices on either carrier, Android is beginning to eclipse iOS.

I have no bias for any carrier, except that I really don't like t-mobile because I don't see any reason to get them honestly. Their only comparative advantage is customer service. Sprint offers similar plans for cheaper, their coverage is similar, and they have the evo and evo shift. AT&T and Verizon have about 5 times the speed and coverage in my area, but are also more expensive in most cases. I think the increased coverage is worth it IMO. That's what matters most to me personally. For some people like nateberrier, they have better coverage with Sprint, so it makes more sense to go with them since they are cheaper as well.

I think that Verizon is probably the better service provider, but AT&T has better phones. It all really comes down to where you live and what matters to you as far as service goes. I didn't choose to work for AT&T because I think they are the best, I was literally just given the job and it was 100 times better than where i previously worked. I still have Sprint even though I work there, and have no bias towards them even though I work for them. If you have Verizon, I could care less. If you plan on switching over, it is of no loss to me whatsoever. I get no gain from getting you to stay with AT&T. I just feel obligated to help you make what I believe is the best decision for you. Switching carriers is a lot of work, and will usually set you back a lot of money in the beginning. I think that switching over just because a few bills were wrong is not a good enough reason.
