JEDI MIND TRICKS played at some hole in the wall club round here couple years ago.I was kinda impressed on their live performance.

Same crew, all part of Rhymesayers, but the sound is different

Atmosphere would definitely be my favorite hiphop act, I still cant quite decide whether its better or worse with spawn gone, but they didnt release enough of their stuff they did together to be sure, I know I love overcast tho. When Slug and Murs teamed up for Felt, it brought that back for me, Slug works great with other guys and Murs really contrasts him well. Felt 2 is probably my favorite "commercial sounding" album ever. Its nothing like Slugs old stuff I've grown so fond of, but Ant really steps up the complexity of his beats for this album and sounds different, but very good.

Definitly check out Brother Ali, another Rhymesayers guys (rhymesayers is the label slug started BTW) and he does some stuff with him..

I think ANT really brings life to atmosphere. if slug were just rapping to normal beats, they would be aite.

I strongly disagree with that. Ant started off soooo very basic with his beats, usually just a basic kick/snare pattern over an equally basic background riff, thats the time Slug was gaining the most respect. Overcast is almost all that, Lucy gets more complex (woman with the tatooed hands etc) and on from there up to Felt 2. Ant provides a good atmosphere (no pun intended) for the songs, but if you just listen to slug's lyrics, its poetry, its art, its great on its own IMO.

oh oaky i never heard overcast. i started listening with Lucy. I also agree that slugs lyrics are genious. it just MO if you have a simple kick/snare beat to his rapping, it would sound kinda blah. ANT also did a good job with Brother ALI also.

Overcast! was an album i liked alot... it was very raw, i hear spawn went off to become 'rek the destroyer' but havn't really found an album. The flet 2 is alright, as far as their comercial sounding albums its a hell of alot better then se7ens travels. (didn't like that one at all)

As to atmosphere being nothing without ant. I would have to say that slug is the main variable in that equation, his wit is what makes him enjoyable to listen to. With that said theres plenty of other artists out there that you should listen to as well who you'd also enjoy quite a bit.

yea i have hated most mainstream for about 4yrs now. i listen to underground stuff from texas, like color changin click, dirty south rydaz, Dj Screw, swishahouse, about anything else you can think of that comes from texas. i've heard of that atmosphere click tho, i need to check them out
