for now, my box only has about .5" clearnce between themagnet and the back of the box. sub is an idmax 12 and will only be getting about 175 watts for now.

i imagine with this little power that the heat issue should be a non factor and i can get away with such little clearance til i get a bigger box as well as my final decision on a sub amp.

Your assumptions are correct. You definitely need more space behind the woofer, but until you upgrade your power, I really dont see it being a problem.

As for the IDmax, it really needs some more room, as it's pole vented. But with only 175 watts, I should think it will be okay.
