Are brand harnesses interchangeable?

Do the harnesses from most of these car audio companies (Alpine, Pioneer, Eclipse, etc) work for each other? I was worried I'd have to rewire my harness in the dash if I went with a brand that was not Pioneer, but the back of all of their units and the harnesses they use all appear the exact same with 2 rows of 7 and 1 column of 2 outlying pins.

Would it just be a straight swap between brands?

IIRC none of them are interchangeable. Well, I think some Jensen and JVC (older ones) will work with each other.

Haha, I know I know, I'm thinking about it.

But I was under the impression I'd be able to take my 6900 out and put the 880 right back in, no problems. However, if that's not true and I'll have to rewire, I might as well just wait and see what happens with the CD7200. It's the all around better unit for me, feature wise.

Tcguy went from a 7800MP to an 880PRS without issue though, same harness... Seems like mine should too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

actuly I wired a Dual head unit in my friends celica, and when he upgraded to a pioneer the same harness was used.

Yea I mean they all look almost exactly the same. As long as you check the tech specs and all the pin functions match, it seems like it'd be fine.
