AQ HDC 18 vs. 3000RMS

for short bursts you "should" be fine if the signal is clean, no bass boost, etc...

Mine got stinky the other day after about 15 minutes straight of LOW bass songs, but that's to be expected...

Dj advised the copper hdc318 would hang with the aq3500 for 30 seconds of bassrace, he recommended a smaller than normal enclosure to help it out though.

My hdc318 copper took my aq2200 fine with no stinky and didn't come close to reaching mechanical limits, but it was not broken in yet either.

Recones for it are cheap, so you won't be out much money if you get outta control with it.

well im pretty sure 5.5 is smaller then mlstrass's 8.5 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I wouldn't use the word "daily" so freely, too many different ways to perceive it.

i have a 30 minute freeway commute everyday, so my equipment gets a pretty thorough workout on a daily basis. lot of pissed off commuters, but fuck em, its the freeway. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Should be ok with 3kw, having the over head is ok, just dont expect to be beating down all day on it with 3kw. Each of my 15"s have 2kw going to them and they get barely warm, only stinky after a good 20 minutes [3 or 4 heavy bass songs at 90% volume, 100% volume (before clipping) my HU skips //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif ]

VERY true. I listen at 50% volume the majority of the time. I have fed them full power for 2-4 songs in a row now and then with no issues. Got a little stinky the first time, but it could have been the glue as they were freshly reconed.

Besides I'm old and can't listen that loud for very long anyway //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

hey how come my new HDC3 15 didnt come with the slip that tells you to break it in for 10-12 hours? I have been pretty scared to crank it up, because I figure it really needs the break in.

mine came with them. Iv put about 8+ hours into them now and there starting to lossen up

I let mine play a few days out in the driveway, plus normal commuting for work and made sure I got about 12 hours on them before cranking it up. NO noise so it was worth being quiet for a few days...

I know others that beat on them right out of the box with no issues, but I wasn't taking any chances.

They are NOT loosening up, the dual layer spiders are taking a "set". It will take a LOT more then 8 hours to get those surrounds to loosen up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

Yea I seen the slip you got in a picture you posted, should I even worry about it? I doubt its going to make a difference if I start to wang them now.
