Quick Question, i know all the usual crap about AQ and DD so im not a n00b here but just looking to get your opinions on this.

Is the HDC3 based off the same Platform as a Standard (No Composite or CF) DD 9500? Would buying a HDC3 have extremely similar performance to a Standard DD 9500 Series woofer except not cost 600+ Dollers? Are the HDC and 9500g one and the same except the DD has options like Composite and CF and the AQ is made in China, not America? THe Motor looks the same, i heard AQ added a ton of cooling to the new motor ( probobly on par with a G series 9500 ) and im pretty sure they utilize the same softparts if its a standard g series?

The 9500g has a lot more cooling in it, and DD uses different softparts as well.

The AQ HDC is made in china like you said, whereas the DD has more american made parts in it.

ive been wondering lately

since the hdc now used china parts...does it really compare to the DD subs material wise?

obviously the performance is greater with the hdc than it was with the hd3 (as shown in a few tests ive seen). but it is really comparable to the 9500 anymore? i though that at least the hd3 has the DD motor, while the hdc now uses a generic china motor no?

Neither the HD3 or the HDC is based on the 9500 motor. The HD3 shared some common soft parts. The HDC shares not a single part. My mistake they share the same basket

im pretty fond of both, but my self prefer the dd's , i highly suggest the aq to anyone who wants dd like sub on the cheap, possibly ordering a hdc3 10 and 12 for a few people....

yea lol, i think they're a little less of a sub than the 9500..i think they are more closely related to the 3500 by looks alone, otherwise i cant help you..

i dont know. over at termpro i have seen people

1) gain from switching from the 9500 to the HD3

2) gain from switching from the HD3 to the 9500

performance seems pretty equal from the big dogs at termpro

Hell, I have seen people gain going from 95's to 35's.

Also, seen gains once from MT to SX.

Its all about the install and power you have on hand.

ill agree with that, and ive also kinda more seen them to be like the 35's too but ive yet to try one or hear one, hopefully soon......

i have had a 3515 and almost every series of 9515s so far tho.....

The Ditigal Designs 9500 has cooling in the top plate right where the basket mounts to the motor. its has a lower BL because of this but keeps the voice cooler. Also the DD has a multi layer spiders but they are stacked together. The AQ has two layers of spiders. So, it has one layer with a stack of three spiders and a lower layer with a stack of three spiders. Also the AQ has an eight layer flat wound aluminum voice coil where as the DD has a 4 layer roune wire copper wire voice coil. What this means is the AQ has a little les overall power handling then the DD with the difference in the voice coil wire and the top plate venting.
