And is the Q15 going to put out a nice volume of sound?

I would assume so - based on ratings, but I wanted to check on this. For the amount of sound versus price, would it be better for my friend here to go with an SSD? Without a huge sacrifice in quality?

Haven't heard an SSD, but have a 15" Q in the GF's car off 1k of power. Sounds very nice on real music and hits low and gets loud. VERY happy with the Q...

I figured a 1k watt sub would be fairly loud on its own, regardless of how it's made, and the sound quality should be good. That's pretty much what he's looking for, something that gets deep and low with a great quality, and still be fairly loud, without taking a big chunk out of his bank.

I just installed my 2 Fi Q 15's off of an AQ2200D amp, and they seem to be pretty good but I'm in the middle of cutting a hole in my rear deck (I'm getting very little bass in the cabin even at full volumes). Should sound good. Mine was off of about 1200w and it gets pretty loud.
