apline bass control settings

I have a CDE-9843 Alpine H/U. i don't really know what it means. for the bass center frequency it has choices of 60Hz,80,100, and 120. the bass band width from 1-4. and for the treble center frequency 7.5kHz,10.0,12.5,15.0.

I know what your saying i have the cheap non mp3 play cde-9482 (its still good though) and i set my treb to 7.5khz and my bass at 60 and on 4 (wide) thing is its sounds good on 80 and 100 but im one of those who always feel like im missing some important part of the beat but for treble definitly set it to 7 or 10 i forget what the max is and at 7.5khz and bass set it at whateverwith the level of neg -4

If you have the Base EQ Adjustment at 0, it does nothing. If you have it between +/-1 to +/- 7, this controls the center frequency that is boosted. The Bandwidth controls how wide from the center frequency is boosted. 1 is the widest boost, 4 the narrowest. The Trebel Center Frequency does the exact same thing as the Bass Center Frequency, except for the Treble EQ Adjustment.

It sounds like your headunit has a parametric EQ.

I'm not sure about the parametric EQ. My 7894 has the same settings and it does not have one.

P-eq. not x-over. the frequencies are for you to choose which you'd like to eq.

That's because there's not alot of info above 15k in alot of recordings. At least not the kind of thing you notice easily without some real listening. Boosting 7k would be a much more apparent change.
