anyway to test my L7

ok iv had this L7 sitting around for a month now and iv still havent even done anything with it and i was kinda scurrred reading another persons post that the guy who sold it to me (for pretty cheap actually only 115 shipped) might have sold me a blown speaker

so is there any way of testing it to see if it works without an amplifier ? i just want to see if it works and theres nothing wrong with it so i can just sit it in my room for another month without worrying about if it works or not

and please no "stick it in ur outlet nublette~!!1!111~`1!1!!1!1oneoneone!!1!" posts please //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

do you have a higher power stereo reciever at your house that you could hook the sub up to? whether its a dual 2 or dual 4, i would say wire in a series to get a higher impeadence and not fry your stereo.. but it should give you some movement and let you know..

ok how do i test it with a dmm? i think i have one its a small yellow box with a dial that said like "DC , V.mA , AC V , dB , and the ohm symbol and it has alot of jibberish that i dont understand all over it

its called ," SPERRY SP-10A"

it also has a gauge on it to spin to put it on different settings under the ohm section 1.5V , 9V , 10, 50 , 250, 500, Rx1 , Rx10, and it has a acv section that has 500, 250, 50, 10 in it

i dunno how to work it, any help? also on the back it says AW Sperry listed analog multimeter

btw iv already put the red needle on the red and the black needle on the black of one of the voice coils on the L7 and nothing at all happened, but i dont even think the the yellow box was on?

ok now when i set the dial to Rx1 and touch it to the voice voils it moves and it kinda makes a scratcy noise when i rub the needle against the termanal on the subwoofer

but i still dont know how to read the meter and when i put it to Rx10 it goes all the way up off the screen

also there is a little spin dial thingy that says OHM on it and when i spin it to the right it goes up when i spin it to the left it goes down soooo i dunno im confused!

also when i hook it up to a double a battery the cone kinda moves and it makes a tiny bit of noise

ok i went to buy and they said each coil was 4.8 ohms and it was good but **** they were poundin on the cone i was about to freakin flip a script up in that mofo and now the cone seems pretty lose, cus b-4 it was pretty tight when i first got it

but i guess that goes with the story that the sub came with, it was only ran @ 300 watts and not even broken in b-4 it was sold to me
