701 is not just a bored out 650. The cases are much different in terms of volume and the cylinder has totally different ports . They do use many other common parts (crank, flywheel, stator, coupler, bed plates, starters, carb (single carb 61X case 701). Changing over from 650 to 701 is an easy affair once you have all the parts together. Many couches of that vintage had 701's in them and sometimes you can pick one up for free out of a dead couch. Not only do you get a free motor but you also rid the world of another couch. What you listed there with the SN is about what I had done to mine. I did bump the timing and milled my intake manifold ever so slightly and messed around with the water routing. All easy and inexpensive mods. I prefer the stock ride plate with a D-cut over aftermarket plates but the rest is all good. You might look into a handle pole down the line. The SN poles do snap quite easily but a stock RN pole will bolt up, allow you to shorten it quite easily and is strong. Don't waste your money on aluminum poles. In time you will want footholds but before you decide on a set try out other peoples skis first. I have WaterDawgs that you are more than welcome to try next time I'm up in Sebastian, we all run different setups so you should be able to get a good idea. Just get a square and in no time you will have a good surf boat. Many of us have unused parts that we can always help a local out with.
