PIR has a lens and Ultrasonic has two holes (emitter and receiver).They make acoustic occupancy sensors that just have a mic. could also indicate glass breaking (an acoustic sensor with a bandpass filter).  the red LED would indicate when sound is detected.  any "laser" type would require another device on the other end (like a garage door safety sensor).it's a darn funny shape for a camera, not likely.if it is an alarm device, the cover is monitored.  so by simply opening it up you trigger an alarm.  this means it's not possible to see what it is.</blockquote>
