i dont see these in use very much lately since hu's seem to have taken over all of the equilizations needed, but i need one for a unique purpose.

my midbass is lacking because i like low bass and i wanted to take some re 8's and put it in a ported box tuned to 80 hz and have it play all of my midbass (about 80-150 hz) and i need an equilizer with steep crossovers and some good tuning features. i plan to just keep it with my amps in the back because i dont have much room for it. it will be one of those set it and forget it things. does anybody know of a good crossover that isnt crazy *** expensive. im thinking in the $150 range.

I assume you mean Crossover and not EQ. I have always liked the Coustic crossovers. The XM-4 should suit your needs. They can be found on eBay pretty regularly. It is a full system crossover and not just a bandpass unit. If you want just a bandpass unit for one pair of channels, your best bet is to look at Harrison Labs. They make passive preamp level units that do not require power or ground connections. They are about the size of a high quality RCA plug and can be put anywhere in the discrete signal chain of that pair of amplifier channels.

well i thought about doin crossovers and i figured if i got an eq w/ all the features of a crossover plus some fun tweaking things then it would be worth the extra 100 or so. ill look at the coustic crossover though. that might be what i need.

There is only really one EQ with a good crossover in it and that is the AudioControl EQX. It is only a 2-way crossover though. For what you want you need bandpass capability.

What is the rest of your system, BTW? I might be able to make some more suggestions based on what you already have.

its in my sig at the bottom. i dont need it to make anything louder i just needed the good crossovers. i also read sumthin about an abc box on caraudioforum.com but i think it will still be lacking in the midbass area. also, how will re 8's perform with 80 watts?

I don't have any personal experience with the RE products, so I can't answer that question.

I'm not familiar with the x-over function of the p7500mp. Can you adjust the x-over freq for the front and rear outputs independently? If so, there is the high-pass portion of your band-pass setup. Add a pair of Harrison F-mods with about a 150Hz low-pass and you are set. Have you considered moving your 6.5s from the rear to an up-front location and using them for midbass duty? With the equipment you have already, that would be my suggestion. Your can then use your fader to match the coaxes to the midbasses to suit your tastes.

Remember that you are in the part of the audio spectrum where sound is becoming directional so where you place the midbasses is important. Doors or kicks are preferred, otherwise your midbass sounds like it is coming from behind you.
