The Wistles Go WOOOOOO!
I need to know how to burn backups of dvds i have.. i have a dvd burner on my computer but need to find a program to burn them with. does anybody know of a good one? what do you use? whats the best out there.. id liek good quality. and can i keep the main menu screen and stuff? some people told me you cant.

it doesnt need to necessarily be a free program, although that would be cool. i would just want the most like a real dvd. im hoping without words on the screen or anythign that would make it seem of less quality.

does dvd shrink keep menus? and also since its saved as another type of file does it still load fine into a regular dvd player?

Maybe you should try updating the software //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
DVD X Copy XpressRF version 3.2.5.13 has no screens or anything like that ...
Well, that was when that software was first released, and I used it and seen that screen, and moved on to a different program.

DVD Shrink allows an entire disc to be backed up (retaining all menus), and you can choose things to not be ripped, such as subtitles, surround sound audio, etc.

Keeping all the files and just letting it automatically compress it, I couldn't notice a difference in quality on my tv.

It saves the ripped disc as a disc image. You then burn the image with whatever program you choose, and it will work in anything that will read burnt dvd's.

Some dvd players read DVD-R, some read DVD+R, some read neither.

I use the old version of DVD X Copy Express, before they took the burning abilities out of it, so it's a single stand-alone program that's pretty much click and go. Very easy to use, and you can copy the entire disk, or just the movie portion. It does have that black archive screen at the beginning though.

Ive used DVDfab and it ok for making DVD's If im making avi's i like to rip with dvd decrypter, encode with tmpeg and use virtual dub for audio. I like the control you get when using seperate programs. I wish i could find a good set up for vob creation but i havent ;(

I used to be way into encoding but ive fallen off now that i dont have a meg ul and dont release to irc group anymore.

Dvd Shrink to rip, Dvd decrypter to burn.

Only problem is that Shrink has some issues with newer movies. Get Slysoft anydvd, it just runs in the background, you dont have to do anything with it. It makes any disc show up as unencrypted. On occasion, a couple discs wont work with shrink- they I use clonedvd.

Download and install the RF version (you can get a free upgrade from nycsoftware.com), then copy the ripper (bouducon.dll) from your version into the RF version ... No screen in the RF (current) version, plus it's a little faster, too ...
They never took the burning ability out of it, they were ordered to remove the ripper from the program (thus RF = Ripper Free) ...
That rocks, thanks for the tip.

I use those to, but I havent encoutered movies that I cant burn. You have to watch out for Sony Arcoss DVDs....ANy new DVD produced by SONY may have Arcoss protection...

1. Simple DVDs

DVD Shrink and CLONEDVD

2. Advanced

DVD DEcrpyter, Shrink, then Clone

3. Way Advanced

PGCEDIT, DVD DECRYPT

I have all of these programs and they are freee...I could post up a link if anyone wants it.
